Welcome to the Peninsula Skating Club
It's Time to Renew Your Membership!
Our skaters had an outstanding year! The Board of Directors would like to congratulate all our skaters on their accomplishments. Every skater in our club has reason to be proud of the new elements mastered, tests passed, and competition programs skated. We are so happy to have had national medalists and international level competitors! This year we also had the honor of watching Karen Chen compete at the Olympics! We had a significant number of skaters who participated at the Regional Championships and qualified for Sectionals and the US National Figure Skating Championships. Members who compete at this level are often offered financial support for Sectional and National Competitions from the PSC. We are proud of all of you and encourage everyone to compete as a member of the Peninsula Skating Club.
The Board would also like to extend our appreciation to our tireless volunteers for their time and commitment. Without you, we could not have accomplished what we did.
The new skating season begins July 1, 2018. You must renew your membership by July 1, 2018 if you plan to test, compete or need a competition application certification. You may renew your membership in one of two ways: 1) Renew online (strongly preferred) or 2) complete and return the paper application ($5 fee for processing paper applications applies). Please contact me directly for the paper application.
PSC offers several membership levels. Parents are encouraged to join to enhance the club’s voting opportunities and voice at the annual Governing Council Meeting and other important US Figure Skating events. Deep discounts are offered for parents joining with the Parent and Skater packages. Skaters under 18 years of age are strongly encouraged to have at least one parent join to represent them as part of the Safe Sport program and as a voting member of the club.
MEMBERSHIP VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:
Our club is completely volunteer based. Without volunteers there would be no Test Sessions, no Club Ice, no Club Competitions and no Judges. Therefore, to remain in good standing and be allowed to compete and test, each family must complete at least 10 hours per year or donate the equivalent of $15 per hour not fulfilled.
Most opportunities do not require previous experience, so do not worry if you do not know how to do a particular job. We will train you. It’s fun to meet other families and to learn about skating from behind the scenes. Please check your areas of interest and we will be in touch with you. If you are unable to fulfill your volunteer requirement, you may make a monetary contribution of $15 per hour due. We prefer for you to fulfill your volunteer hours, but for a short time only, each family can buy out Volunteer Hours for the 2018-2019 Season for $100. This offer will only be available until June 30th, 2018.
We are asking all members to become a Fan on our Facebook page (Friends of Peninsula Skating Club). Also please check out our website (www.peninsulaskatingclub.org) frequently to receive the latest news regarding your local skating activities.
Thank you for your involvement and we welcome you to our club for 2018-2019!
On behalf of the PSC Board of Directors,
Laura Elmufdi, PSC Membership Chair
